Katchi has finished the 2008 eventing season with 3 Novice events under his belt!  He's really an event horse now, and we are both looking forward to an exciting 2009 season!  Thank you so much to everyone who has helped, supported and cheered us on this year!  Especially thanks to Kim Clark, my exceptional friend and devoted groom!

September  21 - Marlborough Horse Trials
Another Horray for Katchi!  Not only did he complete his first Novice horse trials, but he nearly won it!  He was in first after Stadium, and 5.2 time penalties on cross country dropped him to a fantastic finish of 3rd out of 17!!  He didn't take a bad step on cross country and showed he has conquered his fear of ditches, banks and water - oh my!  Thank you to Kim, Amanda and Laura for coming out to cheer us on!

August  23 - Difficult Run Pony Club Horse Trials
Horray for Katchi!  He just completed his first USEA recognized horse trials in fine form!  We finished 2nd out of 16 horses, and just missed out on winning his Beginner Novice division because of a few time penalties on XC.  Katchi and I both had a fabulous time, and he ate up the cross country course!  I think he just may like this eventing stuff!

June 28-29 - PVDA Ride for Life
Katchi successfully moved up to First Level, exactly one year after competing at his first recognized dressage show (last year's Ride for Life)!  I also won recognition as a high pledge winner for the donations received in my name to benefit the Johns Hopkins Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Center.  Thank you to everyone who supported us!
Please see my
Ride for Life page for more information and pictures.

June - While visiting from California, I gave my mom a "lesson" on Kim Clark's Punky (aka The Best Horse in The World).  My mom loves horses, but she's only ridden a handful of times.  She didn't stop smiling for 2 days afterwards, and Punky definitely earned his peppermints!  He was perfect!

May - After months of Kim Clark and I saying, "we need a ditch ... we need a bank!" - my dad came out from Texas to build a ditch and a bank at Leighton Farm!  Kim and I had the bright idea to buy and unload 25 rail road ties - a task which took more than the 30 minutes I expected, and caused us both to cancel our dressage lessons that afternoon due to exhaustion and extreme pain!  Do you know how heavy a rail road tie is?!?!  It was quite a project, but Kim's husband, Bill, my dad and I are proud to announce the successful construction of a fantastic bank and ditch complex!   Pictures of the completed project are posted on my Instruction page.  Kim has posted pictures of all the jumps we have been building on her Leighton Farm Jumps page.

May - Katchi wins Reserve Champion in Grasshopper Jumpers at his first jumper show!

February & March - Stealer wins first place in Training Level Test 1, and the Winter Dressage Show Series Champion in Intro A & B at his first two dressage shows!  Stealer also went to his first schooling jumper show and performed like a champ!
