Decker was my first real event horse.  My parents spent over two years searching for just the right horse to keep me safe as I tackled the eventing world.  And what a find he was!  Decker could jump the moon (as long as it didn't have water on it!), but his dressage skills were another story.  He seemed to think the dressage arena fence should be jumped... repeatedly!  And it was especially fun for him to jump out right into a tree!  Despite the rough start, after several years of work, we represented the Red River Region at the 1992 USPC National Dressage Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park where we had the priviledge of performing a musical freestyle!  My partnership with Decker began when I was a 12 year old D-3 pony clubber and ended several years later, just after my Pony Club B test.  We also competed together from Novice through Preliminary horse trials and had tremendous success!  Unfortunately, Decker never developed a passion for the water jump which caused more than a few tears over the years.  It broke my heart to let him go, but happily, Decker found his calling with a junior rider on the hunter circuit.

Check out Decker at Pony Club Festival at the Kentucky Horse Park in 1992 on Youtube!  Jumping the wishing well from the 1978 world championships and at the head of the lake (and then falling off coming out!).
